This video was re-edited from the Documentary Iron Man. While the documentary told many stories of many wonderful individuals, I chose to focus on the story of the Hoyt Family. A father and son who competed in the Iron Man in spite of seemingly impossible odds. The father was 59 at the time of the Iron Man competition and the son is paraplegic confined to a wheel chair. I used the song “When Love Takes You In” by Steven Curtis Chapman to tell this moving story of love and devotion. I hope you enjoy.

I felt unbelieveably priveleged to qualify for Hawaii this year. Finishing that race was the hardest thing I have ever done physically. I knew the story of Rick and Dick before I went, but knowing how brutal it is out there makes what they have done even more amazing to me

Sem palavras, dos maiores feitos que se pode fazer por o amor que só um pai sabe sentir por um filho. Tudo isto para ver o seu filho sorrir. GRANDE PAI
Having spent a lot of my time on a tandem with my son, and knowing how close that has brought us, and how much we have enjoyed it, I can really relate to this story. Doing my first 1/2 ironman this weekend (on my own, and I'm not sure I will make it.). Booked into do a sprint triathlon with my son on a tandem and I know which one I will gain the most pleasure from.
this shows what real love is. Father and son… If you want, you can!
