What Captain America Really Did At The End Of Avengers: Endgame

If you were confused about Captain America’s decision at the end of Avengers: Endgame, we’ve got you covered! Subscribe to our channel for more awesome videos:

So The end of Avengers: Endgame brought with it a lot of emotional moments. As one would expect from a film that is essentially the end of eleven years worth of stories.

Of course, this also means that a lot of characters’ arcs came to a close as well. Including the star-spangled man himself, Captain America.

Now, at the end of Endgame, Cap was sent back to the past once again in order to return the Infinity Stones (and Mjolnir) to the times and places where the team took them from in order to avoid branching timelines.

After doing so, he took the opportunity to live the life he always wanted with the love of his life, former director of SHIELD Peggy Carter. We’ve followed Peggy’s journey through the first Captain America movie, during her death in Civil War, and on the ABC television show, so it’s nice to imagine her reuniting with PEggy after-all.

It was quite the touching ending. However, this touching-ness was a bit overshadowed by the sheer amount of wonky-ness that this ending introduces.

From timeline splitting impossibilities to the existence of two Captain America’s concurrently. Yea, that’s some really serious stuff right there. So before your brain gets more frozen than Cap laying in a pile of ice — let’s break everything down and analyze exactly how this could work in Endgame. Old Man Steve Rogers actually was very clever in his plan, he just didn’t spell it out on screen for the rest of us.

Quantum leap was solid but Star Trek Enterprise kinda did the Quantum leap thing already during it's run

There is only one reality where Thanos is defeated. If Cap altered anything in the past, he could potentially ruin everything. He knows this because he lived through it. Saving himself from the ice or warning the Avengers about the Chitauri invasion would completely alter the timeline and most likely doom hundreds of billions of lives.

What if the story we are seeing is actually an alternate timeline? We all know cap will do everything he needs to do for the greater good. So let’s say that Cap went back to when he was frozen. He found his old body not long after the crash and woke himself up before being frozen. Explained everything to “Steve” and told him to go and live a happy life with his woman. We all have noticed that Cap’s character never seems like a man from another time. That’s because he isn’t. He’s lived all of that before. So the old man we see in at the End of Endgame is the “OG Steve.” Meaning there’s always been two Cap’s. Now where does the alternate timeline come in? He knew nothing he did in the past would affect the timeline he came from he still missed Bucky. At the end of the day Cap is undoubtably loyal to Bucky. He also knew if he told “OG Steve” the Bucky was still alive then he would do everything to track him down.

Something that I think really solidifies this theory is that at the end of Endgame Cap leaves with Thor’s hammer. But when he’s an old man he has the shield. Where did he get it? And if you notice it’s the same shield from the first Captain America movie.

Also the alternate timeline part. They say nothing you do in the past will affect this current present. So if Cap would have gone back in time and been with Peggy. He wouldn’t have shown up as an old man. It would have created a new timeline. So the theory that Cap went back in time. Woke himself up. Took his own place and was frozen makes perfect sense.

My only question is where is the Mjolnir Hammer? Capt brought it to the past but didnt bring it back

Okay I don’t know if you covered this part cuz I didn’t watch the whole video but when Cap goes back to marry Peggy isn’t there still a Cap frozen in the ice therefore making Falcon irrelevant to becoming Cap because we still have a Cap that has been frozen in the ice

Two observations I made suggest how CA remained in the current timeline. 1. When he went to the army base and entered Carters office there was a picture of skinny Steve Rogers on her desk meaning she fell in love with that version. 2. When Steve Rogers returned at the end of the film, he wasn't big and was wearing the same cream jacket that he wore in the first avenger movie as skinny Rogers, I surmised that he had returned to the original time line and not become CA but continued in the army where she met him. That was my simple understanding of it?

Unless cap found himself in the first place. If that makes sense

How did he get “old”? How did he aged?
